Dive Center
The diving centre in the luxurious Hotel "Matahari Beach Resort" is the ideal addition to our diving
centre in Pondok Sari just 5 minutes away by car.
We recommend that guests wishing to combine diving with us with the luxury of a Relais & Catheaux Hotel stay
at this hotel. The centre is situated directly on the beach
Just 200m away from the hotel beach there is a 10km long, untouched reef rich with tropical under water flora and
fauna (Gorgonian corals, table corals, horn corals). This reef is ideal for snorkelling or for simple dives. The
return journey can be taken under water or on our dingy if wished..
Equipment
The diving centre is located directly on the beach of the Matahari Beach Resort and is equipped - as are all Werner
Lau diving centre - to accommodate the special requirements and wishes of the divers.
There is always enough equipment for hire available e.g..
* 15 BC's / Jackets (Scubapro )
* 15 Regulators with octopus, depth gauge and inflator (Scubapro)
* 50 Sets comprising of mask, fins and snorkel (Seemann)
* 20 wetsuits (3 mm Shorties)
* 10 dive computers (Aladin)
* 5 underwater torches
* 2 underwater cameras
To ensure that everything runs smoothly, we have 60 Aluminium tanks (12 litre, DIN + INT) available. The tanks
are filled from 2 Bauer Compressors.
A well equipped workshop is also available for use by the guests if needed.
The members of our staff are always ready to give advice or lend a helping hand.
Boat Trips
As well as diving from the beach there are also a large variety of diving sites on offer which can be reached in
approx. 15 minutes by boat.
* Photographers are delighted by the offshore reef from Pemuteran.
* A 12 metre long dive boot takes you to the world famous diving sites in the underwater national park by the island
of Menjangan. The boot is equipped with radio, emergency first aid kit and oxygen. The diving centre has permission
to dive in this national park.
* Day trips by car to the well known "Secret Bay" where two dives can be made are offered regularly.
* We also offer day trips to all the well known diving sites in Bali such as the fascinating wreck "The Liberty"
(also including two dives).
Diving Area
The trips to the diverse diving sites leave at 9am. The exception is the trip to the wreck of The Liberty which
leaves at 7am. By local dives (single dives) in the morning we usually arrive back in Pondok Sari between 11am
and 11.30am The afternoon dives leave at 2.30pm and get back to the diving centre at about 4pm.
We have two boots available (7m and 12m) enabling us to offer trips to diving sites both by Pemuteran (travelling
time between 10 and 20 minutes) and the well known diving sites by the island of Menjangan (travelling time approx.
50 minutes)
Regular day trips to diving sites which can be reached by car, such as "Secret Bay" (travelling time
50 minutes) or the legendary wreck of the Liberty (3 hours travelling time) are also part of our service.
Safety
The boats are equipped with oxygen, a radio and an emergency first aid kit. A doctor, whose specialities include
diving medicine, and who also supervises the decompression chamber has his practise in Denpasar. (Sanglah General
Hospital, Diponegoro Street).
Accommodations
The Matahari Beach Resort & Spa was built in traditional Balinese style.
For the construction of the resort, which is harmoniously integrated into the beautiful countryside, only local
materials such as sandstone, marble, wood and bamboo were used. Local craftsmen and artists have created a unique
resort from this special combination of materials. Many affectionate details in the stone-carvings are waiting
to be discovered.
The rooms are divided into four categories: Garden View, Panorama View, Deluxe and Super Deluxe. Each bungalow
has two units and separate marble terraces. The bungalows vary in size, location and equipment.
