Diving Center

The newly renovated and enlarged diving centre is managed by Werner Lau.

The house reef

There is a very good house reef directly in front of the diving centre. Beach dives, night dives and also the free water dives during instruction are all possible, No matter, how many times you dive here, even experienced divers will always encounter something new by each dive. A paradise for under water photographers!
The reef covers the total width of the Hotel area and is a designated conservation area. - the first of its’ kind in Bali. The government agreed to this wish as an experiment. The fishermen in this area use no nets, cyanide or harpoons. The underwater world here is intact.
The shallow area, maximal 6 m deep, goes out to about 50 m from the beach and, by calm sea this makes a great snorkelling area. After that, the bottom drops away at approx. 45° to greater depths.
This intact reef is alternately made up of standing blocks of corals, small drop-offs, coral plateaus and complete reef walls, overgrown with various kinds of soft and hard corals and Gorgonians as well as sponges.
The sandy areas in between invites you to linger - ideal for macro photographers and beginners. There is a splendid diversity of tropical fish life as well as individual blue-spotted rays, leaf fish, moray eels, lion fish, long-nose hawkfish, ghost pipefish, pygmy seahorses, shrimps and several types of sea slug. Numerous shoals of fish such as barracudas and batfish, as well as a family of napoleon fish inhabit the house reef. Sometimes we even see turtles, passing eagle rays and during the night dives, Spanish dancers can often be seen.
Strong currents are rare and the water temperature varies according to the time of year between 27° and 29°C.

Equipment

The new diving center is 50 m from the beach and will be equipped - as are all WERNER-LAU-diving centres - to cater for the special requirements and desires of the divers.
In order to meet all demands, there is always enough equipment available for hire. e.g. :
30 BCD Jackets (Scubapro )
30 Regulators with octopus, depth gauge and inflator (Scubapro)
60 Sets comprising of mask, fins and snorkel (Seemann)
30 wetsuits (3 mm Shorties)
20 dive computers (Aladin)
10 underwater torches
2 underwater cameras
1 underwater video camera
To ensure that everything runs smoothly, we have 60 Aluminium tanks (12 liter, DIN + INT) available. The tanks are filled from a Bauer Compressor.
A well equipped workshop is also available for use by the guests if needed. The members of our staff are always ready to give advice or lend a helping hand.

Privately-owned equipment

Both the privately-owned and the hired equipment are kept in the diving centre and will be loaded onto the boats or cars by members of our staff, who at the end of the trip will also bring the equipment back, rinse everything in fresh water and store all the equipment in the diving centre.
By this all round service, the guests have more time to relax.

Boat trips

As well as diving from the beach there are also a large variety of diving sites on offer which can be reached in less than 10 minutes by boat or within 20 to 60 minutes by car. Normally we offer 2 dives. During the time between dives, guests are offered sandwiches, fresh fruit, drinking water and soft drinks which are included in the price of the diving packages.
The trips to Kubu, Tulamben (Liberty Wrack), Coral Garden, Drop Off, Angels Canyon, Batu Karang, Amed or Gili Selang start at about 8,30am.
Exceptions are the trips to Secret Bay, Menjangan or Nusa Penida, which begin at 7 o’clock in the morning.
We get back to Alam Anda from the local dives between 2 and 3 o’clock in the afternoon. If requested, we also offer ½ day trips with only one dive mornings or afternoons. (Kubu, Tulamben). These start at 9 am and get back at about 12 o’clock midday. The afternoon trips start at 2pm and return to the centre at approx. 4,30pm (Single Dives).
We have 1 boat (10 Meter ) and three small busses enabling us to be extremely flexible to cover all customer requests and to offer personalised diving.

Diving region

From Alam Anda it is possible to visit all the top diving spots in Bali. A large selection of diving spots can be reached within 10 minutes to 1 hour. Further highlights such as Menjangan are approx. 2 hours away.

Tulamben:
The best known diving spot in Bali is in TULAMBEN – Only 30 minutes from the diving centre away by car. Here is the fascinating wreck of the “Liberty” to which we offer regular trips (Car). A spectacular spot for early-morning or night dives as well. Just round the corner is TULAMBEN DROP OFF (lush overgrown wall that drops down to 60m) and CORAL GARDEN (colourful coral landscape partly covered with huge sponges).

The following diving spots are only some examples of what can be reached within a short time:
KUBU - DROP OFF: (soft corals, octopus, white-tip and nurse sharks).
ANGELS CANYON: our insider tip – (wonderful canyon landscape with rare soft corals).
NUSA PENIDA: A large part of the east coast of this island has an intact reef with splendid corals, sponges and large populations of both large and small fish. A real titbit for drift divers! Currents of up to 30m/min are not unusual. Experienced boatmen accompany the divers „inch for inch“. The trip to Padang Bai takes approx. 1.5 hrs and then a further 30minutes by speedboat.
SECRET BAY: Also, regular daily trips (by car) are offered to the well known bay "Secret Bay" (one of the best spots in the world for "Critters")
MENJANGAN: Underwater conservation area. After Tulamben the best diving area in Bali with many diverse diving spots such as coral gardens and splendid drop-offs. The travelling time is approx. 2.5 hrs plus 40 minutes by boat.

We would also be pleased to arrange 2 day trips to Menjangan and Secrect Bay, with one night in Pondok Sari in Pemuteran.

Safety

The boats and the cars are equipped with oxygen an emergency first aid kit and a mobile phone. A doctor, whose specialities include diving medicine, and who also supervises the decompression chamber has his practise in Denpasar. (Sanglah General Hospital, Diponegoro Street).

Diving Instruction

Trial Diving :
Several times a week we offer the chance to allow newcomers to the sport a taste of the wonderful world of diving.
During this dive, which lasts about 1 hour, you can experience the beautiful under water world of the Indonesian Sea on a test basis.
At a depth of only 3-5 meters it is like being in the middle of an aquarium and you can enjoy the fascinating world of the coral reef

Diving courses :
The courses take between 3-4 days. The pupils spend the mornings and afternoons in the water and are introduced to diving in small groups under the supervision of a qualified instructor. The last from a total of 6 instruction dives is made at the wreck of the Liberty. The theory lessons (approx. 6 hours) are on 3 consecutive days between 5,30 and 7.30pm
After passing the exam the pupil receives an internationally recognised certificate (SSI Open Water Diver ). Or alternatively, the instruction can follow the CMAS or PADI guidelines.
We also offer instruction up to SSI Divemaster, CMAS Gold and PADI Divemaster for more experienced divers. Additionally we are qualified to teach and certify nearly all specialist courses.
